How do you get big buds indoors? Guide for Beginners 2020
Are you an indoor cannabis grower?
Almost all indoor cannabis growers want bigger yields for less money, time and effort. Thankfully, there are a number of ways to improve the size of your buds. Pruning, training, feeding, and lighting are the most common ways to dictate how your plant will develop.
How to Tell How Big Your Buds Will Be?
There are a few indications of how big your buds will be based on visual inspection of the plant right before you send it into the flowering stage. The overall health of the plant is a key indicator assuming your plant is a female. If the plant is a male, then you will obviously have zero cannabis buds.
If your plants do not have any signs of poor health pat yourself on the back. This is the first step in knowing that you have a good shot at thick and big buds is a healthy plant.
Lighting can also determine how big your buds will be. LED grow lights for marijuana produce a wide range of full spectrum light and do a pretty good job indoors with bud growth. Many consider HPS grow lights a good alternative during the flowering stage to also help buds along.

TURN UP THE LIGHTS
Compact fluorescent grow lights and LED bulbs produce enough light for plants to grow and even to flower, but HPS grow fixtures provide the most light in the spectrum that plants need during their budding stage. HPS lights can get hot, so you need a well-ventilated room to use them.
You want to keep the lights 18 to 36 inches above the tops of the plants. Check to be sure they’re not too hot by putting your hand under the lights at the same height as the tops of the plants — if it’s too uncomfortable for you, it will be for your plants as well.
Circulate Air
Inline duct fans should ensure that all growing leaves wiggle in the wind, without getting completely blasted by a constant excessive breeze. An exhaust fan, located near the top of your grow space pulls air through an activated charcoal filter in order to clean it before setting it free.
Pulling more air out than you have flowing in creates negative pressure, ensuring a fresh supply of CO2 and also won’t let odors escape through any cracks. Be sure to turn off oscillating fans before any spraying or foliar feeding to avoid getting liquid on your light bulbs that can deteriorate or break from contact with droplets.
Low-Stress Training (LST) Increase Yields
Low Stress Training (LST) is basically any method of training your plants without cutting them, topping them, or pruning them and causing them additional stress.
LST methods usually involve pulling the plant and bending the stems downward so they grow in a more lateral way, exposing more of its lower branches to light which promotes a more equal distribution of light intensity.
The increase in bud formation on these branches results in a higher yield per plant, and also a higher yield per watt of light. In short, you get bigger, heavier yields from the exact same grow setup and lights.
